In light of ongoing developments with COVID-19 we are closely monitoring the situation and guidance from the government, reviewing if this July’s show can take place.  We will not take the decision lightly as the show has run uninterrupted since 1884, however we will do what is in the best interest of our community.

We wish you all the best at this time and we will continue to make periodic updates to this page.

Whether you are planning to take part or maybe just visiting our show we do hope to see you on Saturday 4th July 2020.  You will find us on the Tolleshunt D’Arcy Recreation Ground behind the Village hall.  There is ample parking on the Recreation Ground and it is well signed

Tolleshunt D’Arcy, in Essex, has a long and proud tradition of holding this Horticultural show in the first week of July. Our first show was held in 1884 so this will be our 136th show.

Our committee tries to combine the Show’s history with new innovations added over the years. We introduced photography classes many years ago and now this is one of our most popular sections. There are a large number of entries and the quality of photographs is excellent.

Community is important to us and we work with the local village primary school (St Nicholas) who will often show work from their children

Our small committee works each year to ensure the show can continue and that everyone who comes along enjoys themselves.  We have but one purpose and that is to put on the show.  The only funding we receive is from those who support us each year and from the income we generate on the day.  Each year we aim to break even so we can keep putting on the show year after year although we are not always successful.  Costs – especially for the insurance and the traditional canvas marquee have risen in recent years but we’re committed to keeping up the village tradition.

I hope to see you at the Show on 4th July this year whether you enter a few classes or are just visiting to admire everyone else’s efforts and spend some time taking in some of our stalls and activities  – and don’t forget our fun dog show.

We aim to make this a day out for all the family – we hope to see you there.

Leigh Arnold

Chairman of the Tolleshunt D’Arcy Horticultural Society
